Donuts with Dad

Everyone was very excited about "Donuts with Dad" at school!

Here is Jacob's "All About Dad" sheet.  I was excited to see that I am married to a 600lb, wine drinking man!  Ha!
Here is Anna's sheet. These are such treasures!

Jimmy's Birthday

The kids were so excited about Jimmy's birthday!  We had so much fun shopping for and wrapping his gifts and preparing his birthday breakfast.  The night before his birthday they insisted on Daddy opening their "joint" gift.
The kids were giggling with anticipation as their Daddy started to opened the big box with the helium balloon inside.  They loved this "trick"!
With some convincing the kids agreed to wait to give their other presents to Daddy on his big day.     Anna gave him a pumpkin shaped "timer".  :)  (We shop in the Target dollar aisle.....)
Jacob gave him a squishy ball.  :)
Jimmy and I headed down to Athens to continue his birthday celebration.  We stayed in a gorgeous B&B with our friends Robbie and Kristen and met up with Jared and Lindsey before the UGA-LSU game.  It was a great birthday weekend full of beautiful fall weather, friends and football.  We even snuck in a quick visit to see Nanny and enjoyed visiting with her, Aunt Pam, Aunt Susan, and SuzAnne!  We were so busy having fun we forgot to take any pictures after 10 minutes of arriving.   Regardless, it was a fantastic 35th birthday weekend! Happy Birthday to the BEST husband and Daddy around!  We LOVE you so!

New Orleans

Jimmy surprised me with a weekend trip to New Orleans!  We had a wonderful time exploring the city, eating delicious foods, listening to jazz, and relaxing at the spa.  The kids also had a fantastic time with their own "trip" to Nana and Gramp's house.
Our first stop Thursday was lunch at Cafe Amelie's outdoor courtyard for some delicious shrimp and grits.
Next we wandered around the French Quarter and saw Jackson Square.

We enjoyed "afternoon tea" at the Ritz and then went on a carriage ride around the French Quarter. This is obviously not us in the carriage but it looks like the one we rode.
Our carriage made a stop at the oldest bar in America for carriage side drink service.  We had more yummy seafood for dinner at Arnaud's.

Friday morning we enjoyed some delicious beignets and coffee with chickory.
After plenty of sugar and caffeine we tooked a trolley to the gorgeous Garden District.  It was perfect weather and we had a wonderful time walking around and eating lunch at Commander's Palace.  We were amazed at all the Mardi Gras beads hanging from the trees!
We headed back to the French Quarter for relaxing spa appointments and later, dinner at Muriel's and live jazz at the Ritz.
Saturday was spent eating more yummy beignets and seafood and walking around the French Quarter.  There are so many characters milling around the city!  We thought it was so funny how bands were playing in the middle of Royal Street.

This guy really made me laugh.  His sign says "Pick a Subject, Get a Poem".  Really?  Really?  Does this guy really make a living doing this?   His services didn't seem to be in high demand....

These guys really made us smile.  The tuba and trumpet players were making their music and two other men just started dancing along and having a good ole time.  So many characters!
What a wonderful trip!  Thanks to my sweet husband for the getaway and for my wonderful parents for taking such great care our precious kiddos!

Happy Birthday to Jimmy!

Birthdays are so fun and we were excited to celebrate Jimmy's birthday one last time in Franklin.  The kids really enjoyed making birthday cards, picking out presents, wrapping presents, opening presents, making treats, eating treats, and having Nana, Gramps, and Uncle David over for a party to celebrate Daddy!
Here is Anna putting the final touches on the card we all made together for Daddy.
Jacob was so excited to give Daddy his card and presents when he came down for breakfast.
Jacob and Anna chose this orange squishy spider ball thing that they convinced me Daddy would LOOOOVE!
Daddy and Jacob blowing out his candle on his donut birthday breakfast.
Once Anna woke up it was time for presents!
Daddy needed some new pj pants and the kids decided he would like Cookie Monster themed ones!
 Sweetness!
Jimmy's birthday party was a "tailgate" in our backyard for the UGA-UT game.  We had a great time enjoying the beautiful day and having one last party at our Franklin home.

Happy Birthday, Jimmy! We love you so!!

Happy Birthday to Jimmy!

My fabulous husband turned 33 on Monday, September 26th. We celebrated Sunday with a family party at my parents' house with ribeyes, twice baked potatoes (which Jimmy said were the best potatoes he'd ever had in his entire life), Mom's caesar salad, and mint chocolate chip ice cream cake. It was a gorgeous day and we had a great time celebrating Jimmy!

Jimmy opened his presents from Jacob, Anna, and me prior to going over to my parents' house. He had three gifts and told Jacob he could open one, Anna could open one, and he could open one. Of course, the gift he was supposed to open became a group effort. It's so fun to see how much joy Jacob and Anna get from opening presents - even when they aren't theirs! Jacob was SO EXCITED about Jimmy's birthday cake so Jimmy was happy to let Jacob in on the action. Happy Birthday to the BEST Husband and Daddy in the world! We love you!
