Jacob's First Birthday and Baptism!

We had such a wonderful weekend celebrating our sweet Jacob! On Friday, January 8th Jacob turned one and then on Sunday, January 10th Jacob was baptized. Jimmy's dad, my grandmother "Nanny", my Aunt Pat, and my Uncle Bob all came in town to join Jimmy, my parents, David, and I for celebrating Jacob's birthday and baptism.

My mom and I had a great time making monkey cakes and cupcakes for Jacob's birthday.

Jacob LOVED his chocolate cupcake and ate the ENTIRE thing. Here are a few shots of our one year old in action!

We went to the pediatrician on Wednesday for his 12 month appointment and got another great report. Jacob weighed in at 21 lbs (25th percentile) and measured 29 1/2 inches long (45th percentile).

Our precious Jacob is just that - precious! He is such a sweet and happy baby and I just LOVE being around him. His energy and happiness is absolutely contagious and he truly brightens my day. I love his slobbery kisses, his giggles when he is being chased, and how he thinks he is so clever and funny when he is hiding behind the curtains from me. Jacob is a very confident walker now and is, of course, into everything. He also tries to run which is so darn cute!

Jacob's favorite books are "You're My Little Lovebug", "Goodnight Moon", "The Five Little Pumpkins", "Skippyjon Jones", and "Elmo's Home Run". His favorite toys are balls. He loves dropping them, rolling them, watching them bounce, and following them all around the house. His other favorite toys are his wooden puzzle, velcro sandwich, cell phone, big tiger, and Kindermusik scarf. Jacob LOVES bath time and gets so excited when we start running the water. He splashes and splashes and splashes and gets anyone nearby quite wet! We are really enjoying this stage of Jacob's life. He seems to be more fun each and every day!

As mentioned above, Jimmy and I had Jacob baptized Sunday at Franklin First United Methodist Church. We had been attending for several months and joined the church this past December. Jacob did pretty well during the baptismal ceremony. He wasn't incredibly happy when I handed him over to the minister but he only gave a whimper and a pouty face. It was so wonderful to celebrate this great event with our family! Here we are after his baptism with our family.

Our Fun Christmas

We had such a wonderful Christmas with family and friends! This Christmas marked the very first time in my whole entire life that I have been home for Christmas. :) It was really nice to celebrate Christmas Eve at my parents home and have Christmas Day festivities at our home with my parents, brother, and Jimmy's dad.



Here we are before attending Christmas Eve service. The nursery was packed so we decided to take Jacob with us to the service. He really did great but Jimmy and I are paranoid about disturbing others so Jacob spent part of the service with one of us in an ajoining room. Jacob was served a communion wafer which was pretty neat.

After church we all headed back to my parents house for lots of yummy food. My mom made many of the traditional Swedish foods which we've always enjoyed in Boston at Christmastime. Jacob got his first tastes of spritz, boula, Swedish meatballs, limpa bread, and Swedish cheese and gobbled it all up. Papa was very happy to hear that Jacob is a "good Swede". Although pickled herring is always served we took a group vote and decided it would be left off the Franklin Dahlroos Swedish Christmas menu. :)


Opening presents is always so much fun with our family but having Jacob this year certainly made it extra fun and special. Nana and Gramps (my dad's new and improved grandfather name) gave him lots of fun stuff but his favorite was this tiger. Jacob was too cute when he saw it for the first time!!


Uncle David gave Jacob this ball and it was quite the hit. He carried it around all night!Dad was going on about how he wanted "Kristin's game" and then he opened "Kristin's game"!The biggest laugh of the evening was my mom's gift to Jimmy - footie pajamas! Jimmy has said he wished he could have pajamas like Jacob and now he does. Here are Jimmy and Jacob Christmas morning modeling their footie pajamas! Christmas is never complete without seeing wonderful friends! We were so happy to have visits from Matthew, Laura, & Lila and Tyler, Jen, Elle & Kate. Unfortunately we weren't able to catch a good shot of Jacob and Lila because of bedtime but here is Jen and me with Jacob, Elle and Kate.
