Laura's Baby Shower

Our friends, Laura and Matthew, came in town this weekend for Laura's baby shower. Jacob and I attended the shower while Jimmy and Matthew kayaked down the Harpeth River. We all had a great time and, in addition to seeing Laura and her family, I was happy to catch up with a college friend, Emily, and her adorable little girl, Sydney.

Look Mom, One Hand!

Jacob has discovered he can stand by himself using only one hand to support himself. He's quite excited as this leaves the other hand to bang or grab various items. His confidence is definitely growing as he began letting go of one of our hands and then both as he "walked" back and forth from Jimmy and me. He didn't make it very far without the support of both hands though. His confidence and ambition definitely exceed his balance and coordination at this point! Although he can't use his "walker" as a "walker" yet Jacob is starting to really enjoy using it to stand and for the music it makes. Jimmy is also a huge fan of the music this toy produces and hopes we can find other toys in the future with similar soundtracks. We're still trying to encourage Jacob to crawl although he is much more interested in being upright. He will hang out in the crawling position for a few moments (if we put him in it) and sway back and forth. He's tried several times to pick up one hand to move but each time he's come crashing down.

Jacob's Six Month Formal Pictures

I've been meaning to post some of Jacob's "official" six month pictures. These are the pictures before cropping and editing but I thought they were still cute enough to post. I thought I'd mention this so no one was concerned that I have a picture of Jacob in my living room with my white arm showing. :) Jacob is happiest when he is standing so many of the pictures were taken with him standing up and me holding his hands.

I also couldn't resist jumping in at the end and getting a few Mommy and Jacob shots. Here are my favorites.

Visit to PSI

Jacob and I ventured to PSI today to visit with some of my former co-workers. I have missed working with this group so it was really nice to see everyone. I think Jacob was a little overwhelmed with all the smiling faces around him but thankfully he did well. I was able to convince them to take a quick picture and Kristin and Alicia even got in "sorority pose" for the shot.

Bath Time Fun

The frequency of Jacob's baths has increased to keep up with his expanding taste buds-see previous blog regarding carrots :). Thankfully, bath time is becoming quite fun now that he can sit up in the tub. He loves splashing his feet in the water and playing with (okay, chewing on) his ducks and a teething ring that Fisher Price so thoughtfully attached to his bathtub. He's also quite a fan of that Oldies song "Splish, Splash". I know you are all picturing me singing it to him acting like a big dork. Your mental picture is probably dead on. But, hey, it's worth it because I get this beautiful smile from my handsome baby boy! You'd do it too!
