Zoo!

We spent last Saturday morning at the zoo. It was a gorgeous day and we had a wonderful time being outside and seeing the animals. The highlights were seeing an elephant drink and spray water, the lorikeets, and eating popcorn (of course). Here are the kids with the lorikeets.

Home Sweet Home

Jacob's new favorite activity is to build and play in "his house". This involves him removing all of the couch cushions and piling them between the coffee table and the couches. He has a kitchen and beds for everyone and loves having Anna and me over to play. Here Jacob is showing me the "clothes" he keeps in his "bedroom". Here he is in the "kitchen". Of course it was necessary for him to go to the "grocery store" (my pantry) to stock up on food so we could come over for breakfast. He even rode his car back and forth from the "store" to his "house" with his groceries in tow. It's pretty darn cute.
Anna initally thought Jacob's "house rules" might allow her to stand on the couch. She was sadly mistaken. After a few tantrums she now understands the rule in all of our houses.
The other night I left the serving spoon on the kitchen table. I turned around and saw Anna trying to eat with it. It totally cracked me up and I was so excited the camera was close to capture the moment.
We think it is so funny and cute when Anna puts on this mask. She just walks around the house giggling and walking up to us to get a reaction. So stinkin' cute!
Jacob gave up napping many months ago. He ran a high fever for a couple of days and was obviously exhausted. I tried to convince him to nap but of course he said no. A few minutes into his quiet time I noticed it was expecially quiet and realized he'd zonked out in the bright daylight on the floor. I have such few pictures of him sleeping so I couldn't resist taking this shot.
It amazes me the joy I feel from simply watching my sweet children build a "house", use a big spoon, wear a funny mask, sleep, etc. I love them so and know I am so blessed to witness all these precious and sweet everyday moments!

Southern Snow

It snowed on February 19th and our house was excited! I think the snow was on the ground for about 20 minutes but Jimmy was very organized and had the kids outside "sledding" and making a snowman. I unfortunately wasn't feeling well but I had fun taking pictures and watching all the action.

Jimmy dressed the kids in a thousand layers. I cracked up laughing when I saw Anna. She looked like the Pillsbury dough-girl!

Jacob loved the snow but Anna wasn't so sure!

Jacob and Jimmy made our first snowman. Unfortunately I didn't get a picture of the final product but he had bark for his eyes and mouth and a carrot nose.
Anna decided the snow wasn't for her and started requesting the sprinker and bubbles. :)

Family Visit

Nanny, Aunt Pam, Aunt Pat, and Uncle Bob came to visit the weekend of February 18th. We had a wonderful time seeing them!

This crew can make a mess! Thankfully Jacob was happy to help. :)

One Crane

This winter has been so mild but leave it to me to choose one of the coldest days to go to the zoo. We saw one crane. That is it. One crane. We tried to see the monkeys, macaws, elephants, giraffes and a few others but it was too cold for them. We then decided it was time for popcorn and then the playground. My mom and I figured we'd play a few minutes and then try to find some animals that like the cold. However, the kids were having a blast playing especially since they had the playground basically all to themselves so we decided to make it a day at the playground. Despite the cold it was a fabulous morning and we even enjoyed our picnic lunch outside.
Jacob enjoying his popcorn that he begun asking about as soon as he found out we were going to the zoo.

Anna and Jacob had SO MUCH FUN running around this big play area!

Jacob loves going "super fast" on the swings.Anna enjoys going "baby fast". :)
